Donations from the British public to help deal with the Asian tsunami have soared to £100m, the Disasters Emergency Committee said on Thursday.
A clear indication that the Ayn Rand view , that altruists have a vested interest in maintining suffering so that they can continue to be altruistic is pure garbage (although proponents do exist). While a case can be made that aid which doesn't address the underlying problems creating the need for the aid is misguided, that isn't an argument for less, but for more, since developmental aid is also needed.
